I am a Partner & Head of the Family department in a medium size Firm of Solicitors based in Bromley.  I have over 20 years experience of dealing with all aspects of family and relationship breakdown such as divorce, financial settlements, dissolution of civil partnerships, cohabitee disputes and children issues.  I also prepare cohabitation Agreements for couples who are intending to cohabit and want to place their financial positions on a formal footing thereby reducing arguments over their financial entitlements if they subsequently separate .
 
I believe in providing quality and professional advice whilst keeping legal fees to a minimum. With this mind I trained as a Mediator in 2000. Mediation is a procedure allowing the parties to meet with an impartial Mediator with the intention of resolving their differences regarding children and finances. Mediation is an informal and confidential process, which empowers the parties to make decisions about their futures whilst still having access to their respective solicitors for legal advice.

The process takes on average 3-5 sessions to resolve financial issues. The number of sessions for child related issues varies from case to case.  Mediation tends to be the quickest way of resolving disputes and the cheapest method too. If an agreement is reached the parties can then hand the matter to their solicitors to formalize the arrangement.  In my experience Mediation has a high success rate although I recognise not all cases are suitable for Mediation.  As the benefits of Mediation are becoming more widely recognised, Mediation is now supported and promoted by Courts in England and Wales.
